God wants you to have a great story this year.
And so do I.
But you have a part to play.
You’re going to need more than faith.
Faith is like just one side of a coin.
Stick with me here for a few minutes while I explain.
Say I own a piece of land that has great potential to produce crops, but it’s covered in weeds. The potential is there, and I may feel called to farming, and I may have faith that the land will produce a huge harvest, but none of that matters if I don’t take any action to get rid of the weeds.
So let’s say that I declare war on the “kingdom of the weeds,” and I take action and mow them down. Then, I have a beautifully cleared piece of land. Great, right?
Well, I still have a part to play. I have to actually plant something good there, or things still won’t change on that land. Even though I have faith for the crops, I have to take the natural steps to plant the seed.
That’s where so many Christians miss it. Unbelievers seem to know that getting a job done will require research, work, and more work. But a lot of Christians think they get to skip the practical steps that are necessary on the natural side. They think they have a pass to jump ahead in the process—in life—simply because they feel called by God to something and have the faith for it.
But enjoying the promises of God takes more than faith. Prospering in the Kingdom takes both spiritual actions and natural actions. Faith REQUIRES getting your hands dirty—taking action.
By faith, we see what God has given us, but we have to ACT on that revelation for it to have any impact here in the earth realm.
To see change in our lives, we have to have faith AND do something.
You’ve probably heard my story—years ago, my wife, Drenda, and I lived hand-to-mouth. We lived in poverty. For nine very long years, we were in financial chaos. And I had a family to provide for. All seven of us were living in a small, broken-down, 1800s farmhouse, complete with weeds growing through the broken windowpanes. Not only could we not afford the monthly $300 rent payments on that farmhouse, we also owed on two rusted-out, bent up, high mileage cars, 10 maxed out credit cards, three finance company loans, back taxes ... it was a nightmare.
I was sick during those days, too. I was miserable. I lived in a state of constant stress.
When I hit my breaking point and cried out to God in desperation, He told me I had trusted in the earth curse system instead of His Kingdom. He said I had never learned how His Kingdom operates.
From that moment, Drenda and I began to learn how the Kingdom of God operates, and in less than three years from that day, we were completely out of debt. We started new businesses during that time that have only kept growing. We paid cash for our cars, cash for our 55 acres of land, and built and paid for our new home.
For all of those nine ridiculously long years Drenda and I lived in financial chaos, we thought we were waiting on God. At the time, we had no evidence in our lives that God’s will was for us to have everything we needed. In fact, we thought God was holding out on us. We thought that, for whatever reason, He just wasn’t bringing the financial answers we needed. But we were wrong.
The truth was that we needed knowledge of who God is and how His Kingdom operates.
To enjoy the promises of God, we needed more than faith.
We had to have faith AND do something; we had to take action.
As a friend of this ministry, there’s so much more I want to share with you about this!
