If you close your eyes and picture yourself as “a success,” what does it look like for you?
I hope you have a picture in your mind.
Now, I want you to get another picture in your mind. Imagine with me here for a few minutes.
Piles of grain.
Piles and piles and piles of grain.
Piles of grain SO large that they can’t be contained, let alone counted.
Why am I asking you to imagine piles of grain? Because God used piles of grain to show us a clear picture of His promises to us—His promise to be with you wherever you go and His promise that you can be successful at whatever you put your hands to.
You’ve probably heard me talk about Joseph. He has an incredible story, and it has everything to do with grain piles and everything to do with your success.
Bear with me for a few minutes because we need to start at the beginning.
Joseph’s family was dysfunctional. His brothers hated him. They hated him so much that they sold him into slavery and pretended a wild animal had killed him.
Things didn’t look good for Joseph’s future.
But he ended up working for a man named Potiphar, and the Bible tells us that the Lord was with Joseph and he prospered. In fact, Genesis 39 tells us that Joseph had success in everything he did, so much so that Potiphar put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned.
But then Joseph dealt with more issues. Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him, and he was thrown in prison.
But Joseph’s story didn’t end there. Genesis 39 tells us that the Lord was with Joseph in prison, and Joseph prospered there, too. He had success in everything he did.
Fast forward to Genesis 41:41 and look what happened:
“So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt."
That’s quite a story, right? And it only gets better.
Because God was with Joseph and he prospered, Joseph was able to accumulate piles of grain for the Egyptians ahead of a seven-year famine no one else knew was coming.
Those piles of grain didn’t just mean life for the people of Egypt during the seven-year famine that followed Joseph’s seven years of preparation; the piles of grain meant success.
And like Joseph, you have the ability to produce “grain piles” in your life. Ephesians 3:20 tells us God is about to do more than all you can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within you.
You can see the promises of God come to pass in your own life and the works of your hands blessed.
You can prosper and be generous.
First John 5:14-15 say, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
This is a very important Scripture. It tells us that this is our confidence—our firm trust. We may not have the evidence, but we know God has already taken the case. Jesus has already paid the price.
No matter where you started or where you are now, you have the ability to be successful. I don’t know what kind of situation you may find yourself in right now, but let me encourage you: GOD IS BIGGER than anything you’re facing.
The task before you may be impossible in your own strength, but it’s not impossible with God!
Joseph was in impossible situations—in the house of the ungodly and in a place where he really had no chance of success. In places where there seemed to be no potential, Joseph still prospered.
Just like God was bigger than Joseph’s ugly past and bigger than his dysfunctional family, GOD IS BIGGER than YOUR past. Just like God was bigger than the rejection, betrayal, false accusations, and seven years of lack Joseph faced, GOD IS BIGGER than YOUR situation. Time and time again, things looked completely hopeless for Joseph, but God made a way for Joseph THROUGH all of those hardships, and Joseph prospered.
God will make a way for you, too. Just like God was with Joseph, He is with you, and you can prosper. You can get through any situation and be a success!
God has a plan for your life. He made you for a special purpose. As a child of God, He made you to have success in everything you do. He created you to win.
So, how do you step into God’s plan for your life?
