Will you imagine something with me for a minute?
Imagine you’re sitting in an auditorium with hundreds of other people listening to a speaker when, a few minutes into his message, the speaker says there’s money hidden under one of the seats in the room.
What would YOU do?
I’ve done this a few times recently during our services at Faith Life Church, and you can probably guess what happened when I told the people—nearly everyone jumped up and looked under their own chairs.
Some people looked under their own chairs and then started looking under the empty chairs around them.
And a few people looked under their own chairs, then moved quickly to every empty seat in their section, or the section next to theirs, and looked under all of those chairs, too.
Which person would you be in that auditorium?
Which person are you in life?
Because life is like that auditorium, and the opportunities God has for you are like the money hidden under the chairs. He presents you with opportunities. That’s what He does. But it’s your responsibility to get up and capture them, and capture them quickly.
Look at 2 Kings 4:1-7 with me.
The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”
Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a little oil.”
Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”
She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.”
But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.
She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”
What would you say is the most valuable thing in that story?
It was time.
But there are two keys to time here that I want you to notice.
- She acted quickly. She didn’t waste time. Like the people in the auditorium who jumped up right away to look under their chairs, she obeyed Elisha’s instructions and gathered pots.
- She could’ve taken more time.
Wait; what, Gary? You just said it was important that she acted quickly.
It was extremely important that she acted quickly. But if you could talk to that widow now and ask her what she would change if she could go back, I guarantee she would say she would have taken more time to gather more pots.
See, the widow went a little farther than the people in the auditorium who jumped up and looked under their own chairs for the hidden money. She was like the “some” who looked under the other chairs closest to them.
But what if she had truly understood what God was trying to get to her?
What if she had realized that God never gives just “satisfied”?
Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
So, what if she had really been tuned in to God and anticipated the “running over” that He promised?
She would’ve been like the “few” who looked under every empty seat in their section, and the section next to theirs.
Sure, she would’ve still acted quickly, but she wouldn’t have stopped at satisfied. She would’ve visited every last neighbor to get their empty pots. She would’ve traveled to the next town over to ask around for empty pots. She would’ve come back with wagon loads of pots. And she would’ve been recorded as being the wealthiest woman on the face of the earth.
See, God is constantly operating in the “running over,” in the “more than enough.”
It’s time for you to start anticipating the “more than enough” and capturing all He has promised you.
It’s time for you to live the life He always intended you to live.
Now is the time for you to experience His rest—to have the same amazing results others are having as they tap into ALL of the laws and promises of the Kingdom of God and walk them out!
See, I’ve been there—struggling to survive, doing my best to keep my head above water as my life spiraled further into financial chaos. I couldn’t even afford to buy a postage stamp.
In less than three years, we were completely out of debt. We started new businesses during that time that kept growing. We paid cash for our cars, cash for our 55 acres of land, and built and paid for our new home. We were extremely excited, and still are! In fact, we’ve been on a mission ever since to help others experience the Kingdom of God.
That’s where Team Revolution comes in.
