Are you facing a situation that seems hopeless?
No matter how hopeless your situation or your life may seem, the Bible says you have hope. You might just need an attitude adjustment.
That was the phrase my dad used to use.
See, growing up, I couldn’t talk about the Bible, or church, or God. My dad wouldn’t listen. I had a terribly hard time believing that my dad could ever come to know the Lord personally. I would pray that he’d receive from someone, anyone, because he just wouldn’t receive from me.
But one day he started watching our show. And, after years of thinking it was hopeless, my dad gave his life to Christ at the age of 80.
From that point on, when asked how he was doing, my dad would always say, “I need an attitude adjustment.” He realized he had been trained the wrong way his entire life, and he was trying to make adjustments with God’s help.
Is that you? Do you have the wrong attitude, or perception, about your life or a situation you’re facing?
Romans 15:13, one of my favorite Scriptures, says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
David’s fight against Goliath is a great example of hope. In 1 Samuel 17, we find the nation of Israel facing what looked like a hopeless situation—Goliath. There was a lot at stake. The whole nation was at risk of being enslaved, and the giant looked too big to conquer. The stakes were so high, and the situation so intimidating, that the army of Israel and King Saul were all quaking with fear.
But then David came on the scene. He wasn’t overwhelmed like the rest of the army was. Instead, he asked what the reward would be for the man who killed the Philistine and removed the disgrace from Israel. After he found out the reward, he told King Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him” (vs. 32)
David saw the situation as an opportunity. He had hope.
The goal of the enemy is always to make your problem or circumstances look bigger than God. He wants you to be afraid. Fear is the master of distortion. It makes us imagine things. It makes us hear scary sounds at night. It makes us lose sight of reality. It makes us lose hope.
Most people have trained themselves to get discouraged when things look hopeless. If you’ve trained yourself to have pity parties instead of looking to what God has said about your situation, you need an attitude adjustment.
You have to train yourself not to be moved off of what God says. Even if things are falling apart all around you, you can still have hope. You don’t need to live in fear. Stay in faith (agreement) with what God says about you and about your situation. Don’t buy into the enemy’s smokescreen. Don’t lose hope.
You may not have an answer for your problem, but God—who made ALL things— has a solution to your problem. You don’t have to live in fear.
You have the potential to create your life every day, but you have to walk out the principles; you have to engage. You have to start seeing situations through the eyes of God. You have to start seeing things as possible.

Discouragement, depression, anxiety. They are all symptoms of giving up on your dreams or losing sight of the God-given path. When there is no vision, we begin to lose our hope for the future. Don’t stay down. It’s time to hope again. Start here.
