You Have an Enemy. Do You Know His Tactics?
Let me get right to the point.
You have an adversary.
And he doesn’t care if you go to church every week. He doesn’t even really care that you’re going to heaven. What he does care about is whether or not you’re influencing the world. He doesn’t want you to exercise your authority. He doesn’t want you to advance, prosper, or take territory for God.
He wants you to get comfortable, stop, stay where you are, or even better—turn around and run the other way.
Like a barking, growling dog that believes a road or a sidewalk belongs to him, Satan will keep coming at you trying to rattle you, throw you off, or make you give up.
First Peter 5:8 tells us to be self-controlled and alert because our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He’s not looking for the unbelievers; he already has them. No, he’s looking for the believers.
He’s looking for you.
So what should you do? James 4:7 says, *“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”*
That doesn’t mean you’re supposed to avoid the devil or avoid the confrontation. No, resist means to *oppose* or set against. It means to *stop* or block, to hit hard.
You should resist the devil because he has NO right to your life.
**That’s why it has never been as important as it is right now that you learn how to resist the enemy and take territory for God.**
The first step is knowing that God put everything under our dominion. (Hebrews 2:8)
God had crowned Adam with glory and honor, and he ruled in the earth realm under delegated authority. Adam had delegated authority until he sinned. At that point, he gave his crown away to Satan. But God sent Jesus—a man—to restore the delegated authority. So now, if God is going to do something in the earth realm, He has to do it through those that have authority here—mankind.
YOU.
Satan knows this, so he uses a lot of tactics to try to trick us out of our dominion. And he’s pretty sly. He’ll take a little bit of a principle of God—a little bit of the Word of God—and twist it. He uses it to deceive.
Make no mistake; you’re in a spiritual battle, friend, and a spiritual battle demands spiritual knowledge.
See, most of the time our problem isn’t the enemy—it’s our lack of understanding. In fact, look through the Word of God, and you’ll see that it doesn’t talk about spiritual warfare against Satan.
Because Satan has already been defeated.
Of course, he is going to contend for every piece of ground that you try to take, but the Bible says he is under our feet. *So the problem really is that people don’t know who they are. *They give too much credit to the enemy. If they would understand the truth and the authority they have, they would know exactly how to fight back and take territory.
