How You Can Find Freedom in a Sea Full of Sharks

, How You Can Find Freedom in a Sea Full of Sharks

Did you know the movie Jaws made more than ‎$470 MILLION dollars‎?

Why does that matter?

Because after many challenges, complications, and issues, being millions of dollars over budget and taking 157 days to shoot instead of the allotted 65 days, the movie was predicted to be a massive failure.

$470 million.

Just goes to show you that you should never listen to the naysayers—the sharks—in your life who are trying to tell you…

“This won’t work.”

“It’s impossible!”

“There’s no shame in quitting.”

Those voices are exactly why I HAD to write my new book, Shark Proof.

I know exactly what it feels like to be a small fish in a big pond.

Years ago, I was invited to attend one of Joyce Meyer’s conferences as a special guest. That meant I would be back in the conference green room with all of the guest speakers and VIPs at the event.

I was so intimidated.

I don’t belong here, I thought.

Have you ever felt that out-of-place-sweaty-palms-intimidated-oh-so-awkward-I-wish-I-could-just-disappear feeling?

Don’t shy away from it.

Don’t run.

Intimidation is just another word for fear; it’s fear that we are not enough.

So, how do we move past the sharks in our lives, sharks of intimidation, fear, and manipulation?

I learned that, when the sharks start threatening, I need to do two things:

1. Get out of my own way.

2. Trust that God appointed me, and He has a plan for me.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

When I was at that conference and questioning why I was there, what got me through my fear was remembering that it wasn’t about me; it was about my mission, my passion for people, and my heart for helping them live their very best lives!

Once I remembered, It’s not about me and got mySELF out of the way, I was able to focus on the needs of others, which is my calling.

Once I put the spotlight on others, I didn’t feel fearful or out of place anymore. I felt right at home, right where God invited me to be.

Remember, God will never appoint you past where you are ready to go.

Here are some incredible Bible verses to help you cast down thoughts of self-doubt and insecurity with God’s Word: Go HERE and be inspired by what God has to say about you.
